WOW A BLOG MILESTONE AND NEW GIVEAWAY COMING

We interrupt today's Friday Funny feature for this important announcement:

We hit a huge milestone some time during the day yesterday.

Our unique visitors count pushed past this amazing number,

Yes, more than half a million people from all over the world have stopped by because they were searching for something, or saw something that caught their eye.  Somehow, people find their way here and many of you stick around and come back regularly.  I hope those of you who stop on occasion will make us a favorite and keep coming back.  There is always something being posted here.  It might be a recipe, a decorating tip, a random picture, a link to something fun, maybe even a rant about something but I'll always try to give you new content every day.  Not to mention you'll be able to follow along as we turn this land and house into something worthwhile.

We've said it before but it's worth repeating again and again...thank you.

So, in honor of this huge milestone, we're going to start a new, regular, monthly giveaway!  Still working out the plan but I'm pretty sure it will involve books.

So check back on Saturday September 1st and I'll have the details.

  1. I've been a relateive new lurker but I check in every day if I can and if I miss one, I go back and look at what I missed. This might seem strange but I feel like you're a friend that I know. It's like a friend that gives you advice or tells you the latest thing they cooked or something they bought or you are asking for advice on where to put something and that makes it like chatting with a friend. --- Lisa

    1. Well, first of all, welcome Lisa! I don't think I've seen you before. Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely note. I consider you (and everyone else) a friend I just haven't met in person yet! :-)

  2. Wow! I've been at this blogging thing for over four years, and your views almost have mine doubled already! Granted, when I switched to Blogger's counter, it didn't pick up my entire history, but yet....good job and well deserved milestone.

I'm in for the drawing!!!! Oh....not yet?

    1. You know, you were actually my inspiration to continue blogging! I was getting worried no one would be interested and then you read it from the beginning and wrote such a nice post, I just decided to keep going. I"m glad I did. THANK YOU.

500,000 I have no idea how or why. I get lots of visitors coming in and searching for things. I don't really look at all those details but perhaps I should, to see what's working, ha.

No entry yet, I'm trying to figure out what to do and how, probably just the standard "be a member and leave a comment" but we'll see.

    1. I have no idea honestly. I mean, I have my blog listed on various search engines and when I started it I used some tips on how to make sure people can find you and I did them (have no idea what they were, ha, something about meta tags or something).

As for money, meh, not really. Somehow I missed out on the tutorial on how to do that, LOL! I do have ads, but the ads only pay when people click on them and you aren't supposed to ask people to click on them in a blog post so i can't tell everyone to do that in a special post. I didn't put them on there for that originally, I know many blogs are ad free, but I put them because it helps with traffic somehow and I figure in the future, higher traffic and ads might help if I want to have bigger giveaways for all the loyal readers.

    2. I ran ads on my blog until I neared the (I think it was) $100 mark, when they have to pay you off. Then I got a nasty email from them saying I was being dropped for doing something against their rules. I wrote back and asked exactly what it was that I was supposed to have done, since all I did was display their ads, and got a form letter back basically "case closed we're not going to discuss it with you". So I ran their ads for nothing.

    3. One of the biggest no no's, from what I've read anyway, is clicking on your own ads. I've done it a couple of times, but only by accident, usually, I see an ad that interests ME and so I clicked it without thinking. Only happened a couple of times but I was worried about it, ha. Oh well I'm more careful now. I can't imagine what you could have done to get dropped. They measure things in weird ways so who knows. Could have been anything I suppose. Sorry that happened to you!

    4. I did click on some ads that interested me. Heck, I was a potential customer of some of those gardening ads!

    1. Thank you, I'm the same way on all of the wonderful blogs I read. I don't always have time to comment but I love reading everyone's posts.

Books, yes, books, I figure it we have too many (really is there such a thing? ha) we should help others have too many as well.

Thanks for stopping by as always.

  7. I found my way here thanks to Granny at Annie's Kitchen Garden. I think your blog reflects the dreams of many. It is very romantic to think of moving from the city to the country into an old farmhouse that is in need fixing up.

There are those of us who wish we could go back to a simple time and live on our own self sustainable farm. I also enjoy your decorating projects, your great antique finds, your inspiration photos, and the graphic designer in me cannot resist your vintage poster sundays.

Congratulations on so many visitors! I am proud to be among them.

    1. What? How awesome that someone here in town visited them. Yes, David (the manager) knows us well, ha. Thank you for mentioning us! I think I know which step stool you got, I've been wanting one of those for the farm. That might have to be a future purchase (unless you bought the last one, ha, then we'll wait for another shipment, LOL!).

Thank you again for letting us know. And thanks for stopping by, please come back soon.
