DON'T FORGET TO WEAR PROTECTION

Wait, what?  LOL!

Not THAT...the "new" getting dressed to go out...

...the other day when I headed downstairs in the building to get the mail and drive to the farm, 2nd Man reminded me to wear protection.  That made us laugh.  It is indeed a strange new world we are in right now.

The first time I put on the mask and gloves and headed downstairs I thought "I'm going to be the only one dressed like this".  I walked into the store and there were fewer people NOT dressed like this.

Beginning Monday of next week, the city of Houston will require ALL people 10yrs and older to wear masks when out in public.

So far we have two boxes of the these blue masks and that's what we wear.  We need to invest in some cloth ones so we can wash a set and have a set clean and ready.  We already had a box of gloves because we've always used them when working with raw meat, cleaning things, changing the litter, etc, stuff like that.

So how are YOU all handling this 'new normal'?

  1. masks are MANDATORY in this state; no mask, no service in grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. people are complying.

  2. In February, I saw the writing on the wall and bought two boxes of gloves. I had only five masks, gotten off a free table every time I went to CVS. I had one Lysol Wipes in cannister, bought two on bogo in March, and bought another from behind the counter is a store office where they were kept. I go out with masks, gloves and container of wipes. And, equally important, I take only a card. I never handle money--coins or paper.

  3. Mandatory masks here. But I've stopped wearing gloves unless I'm pumping gas. There have been plenty of sanitizing wipes available at stores to clean carts and then hang onto for door handles etc which is safer (easier to disinfect) than using gloves. When I am headed to the store I transfer to a stripped down purse that has only cash, card and sanitizer so I don't have to handle a wallet. Now I have a couple of cloth masks so I can wash one and always have a fresh one - Hello Allergy Season! ...sniffle..

  4. That was a cute funny! Never leave home without protection!
Good move by Houston and Harris County in ordering mandatory mask wearing. Masks save lives. European countries that instituted mandatory masks experienced a significant drop in Coronavirus cases after several weeks.
I ordered several cloth masks from Etsy and also some people in my town are making them. I always wear a mask when leaving my house and I have hand sanitizer in my purse and my car.

  6. Masks and gloves are on when I leave my apartment to go anywhere in my building or anywhere outside and to the store! Too many folks not abiding by the rules and regs because they feel their "liberties" are being abused! Guess, for them, it's better to maybe die then follow the rules! We KNOW who these folks are!

  8. Made up around 100 cloth masks and donated to emergency services, law enforcement, medical staff, etc. So many more requests, we have added them to our normal wool stuff for sale. https://double-up-farm.square.site/product/facemasks-reusable-fabric/20?cs=true
