Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm. Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

This is something we are definitely going to put at the farm but we always thought about it coming once we have a new/redone house out there and we can transition to moving there full time.
This is a sign with the farm/homestead name put at the top. We'd put our farm name on there, Seda Bolsa. Mounting it on a post like this and then adding the galvanized tub of flowers would be so pretty at the entrance of the driveway.
Be inspired...
Just about all the houses and horse estates here have names. It's fun to read them while driving the back roads.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool!! We won't be a horse estate but maybe a mesquite tree and fire ants estate, ha
DeleteHave you decided what to do with the house?
ReplyDeleteWe're leaning toward a gut and remodel but the more we think about that the more we think we should still consider a replacement in light of what's going on now. That way we can make sure it's prepared for all possibilities. There is a metal building cabin company we are looking at. That was on the plan for this year until the pandemic has put all that on hold. We only have my income now as my job is essential. The more you get ahead the more you get behind, sigh.
DeleteOur farm actually has a name as well, unfortunately the Quebec government doesn't allow English signs to be displayed anymore, we would be charged if we put it up and our assets seized. One of Canada's embarrassing dirty little secrets.
ReplyDeleteSomething like that would be Great at the entrance of your driveway. The sign would be an easy project to make.
ReplyDeleteKeeping it watered during the dry spells may be a problem unless you have a small watering tank that you can pull behind your Zen machine.
Was thinking; on your sign as people come in have 'Welcome' and on the back side as people are leaving, have something that says; Drive Safely & come back again' or 'Time To Say Good-Bye, Have a Safe Trip Home.'
DeleteThe sign looks great and I would go ahead when things are over with the pandemic and get your sign up. A good point someone made about the flowers being watered however you could get the sign up before you sort a remodel since you have already named your farm. Kathy, Brisbane, Australia
ReplyDeletemaybe build a new place and use the farmhouse as a guest/party place/office? i lived with a dentist on a farm once and we made a sign shaped like a molar and named the farm tooth acres.
ReplyDeleteI love the galvanized tub with flowers. It really fits your farm. For flowers, you could use drought tolerant ones such as Moss Rose (Portulaca grandiflora) or Ice Plant (Delosperma).
ReplyDeleteMay 1st.
ReplyDeleteHappy May Day.
Just how many of you, when you where younger, made May baskets and gave them to your friends, neighbors, teachers, etc.
Better yet; how many remember doing the Maypole Dance in school?
Or it was always a good time to going fishing was on May 1st.
I think all them memories of May Day have long disappeared
Anyway; Happy May Day everyone
Stay safe, stay healthy & be happy.
